Danny Dunivan
President - General Baptist Ministries
Friday

Dr. Danny Dunivan, son of a General Baptist pastor, discovered his faith early, was baptized at age seven, and answered the call to ministry at 14. He preached his first sermon in 1991 at Walnut Grove General Baptist Church—where his father served for 34 years—and later worked on staff at congregations in Missouri and Indiana, experiencing both the messiness and the beauty of local church life. Recognizing the need for further education, he enrolled at Oakland City University, earned a BA in Religious Studies and a Master of Divinity, and married Tara, also a General Baptist pastor’s daughter and his partner in ministry.

He went on to complete a Ph.D. in historical theology at Saint Louis University before returning to OCU as a faculty member, teaching theology, church history, and General Baptist life. After taking on roles as Dean of Chapman Seminary and eventually Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost, he was approached in 2020 to serve as Interim Executive Director for General Baptists—leading to his appointment in 2021 as the first President of General Baptist Ministries.

Today, Dr. Dunivan and Tara reside in his hometown of Puxico, Missouri, in the former home of his paternal grandparents. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Averee and Ella, and remain deeply committed to serving and leading within the General Baptist community.
